Reviews
"If the press sheet accompanying this E.P is to be believed, Ayr's Sucioperro are "bouncing somewhere between Rage Against The Machine and Crowded House!" Thankfully the band don't sound like the abovementioned groups but have more in common with fellow Scottish noisemakers Desalvo, Mercury Tilt Switch and Biffy Clyro (who's Simon Neil contributes to tracks here). Sucioperro take the listener a little by surprise and stir up images of bearded warriors Aereogramme by gradually building from tranquil and intricate soundscapes to full on aural onslaughts. It all sounds very familiar, but as they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it? The record's highlight is the pure adrenalised destructive post-grunge of 'Capable Of More'; I look forward to see if they actually are."

"Hmmm, I think this is one of those EPs that bands put out before anyone has taken any notice of them. Y'know, when they reckon they're really good but just need people to hear it. So often delusional. But then, Sucioperro are Scottish!! There are only 3 types of music made in Scotland:

Mogwai style post-rock
B&S style indie über-indieness
Idlewild/Travis don't need explaining

And be honest now, it hardly varies from the norm does it? The norm being quite the superlative of fantastic, one way or the other.

This record slots into category #1 in the quiet/LOUD stakes and features a guest vocal from one of the frontrunners of the scene at the moment: Biffy Clyro man, Simon Neil. There are major hints of Cooper Temple Clause and Aereogramme in there if you want some clearly defined inklings of what they sound like. No giant walls of sounds clearly visible but plenty of melody and some noodly guitars popping up, which is nice to see. He goes a bit mental at one point - screaming away like a madman. Also, nice to see. They just went on the Biffy tour for a couple of dates in Scotland apparently. I wanna see them live cos I reckon they're gonna be ace."

*This demo is so much more fantastic than our resident Raz reckons. Email info@sucioperro.com or check the site for some mp3s. It's fantabulous...(Peter White - editor)* - 9/10
